A Frontier obsession with felt
It began, as all great western things do, with a single stubborn man and a kettle of rolling steam. Our founder grew up on the high desert, where a hat was not an accessory but a tool of survival — shielding a man from noon sun, midnight frost, and the judgment of other men.
Dissatisfied with the wool-blend hats that filled the modern market, he apprenticed himself to a retiring master hatter who still blocked crowns by hand over wooden forms. For three years he learned the old creed: that a true hat is shaped by steam, fire, and patience — never by machine, never by shortcut.
In 2024, with a single workbench, a brass iron, and a bolt of pure beaver fur felt, LP HAT CO was born. The creed was simple: build hats that outlive the man wearing them.

We use only premium beaver and rabbit fur felt — never wool, never synthetic fillers. Dense enough to shed a downpour, supple enough to last a lifetime.
Live Steam
Every crown is blocked by hand over a wooden form with live steam and a brass iron. No machine pressing. No factory shortcuts. Only fire, water, and the hatter's hand.
Heirloom Fit

Our History
The First Crown
LP HAT CO is founded with a single workbench, a brass iron, and a bolt of pure beaver fur felt. The first cattleman crown is blocked by hand.
The Atelier Opens
The workshop doors open to private clients. Word spreads among ranchers, cattlemen, and collectors that a new house is shaping hats the old way.

The bespoke Custom Hat Bar launches, allowing clients to commission made-to-measure crowns shaped to their exact skull and creed.
